The City of Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and is situated on the River Clyde in the West of Scotland. It offers the largest retail centre in the UK, outside of London. Glasgow is renowned for its historic architecture. There are 3 major university campuses within the city as well as the world famous Glasgow School of Art. Glasgow offers a fantastic destination for city break or day visit for tourists, with every attraction you would expect from a thriving European city. There is a host of theatres, art galleries, museums, attractions and restaurants to suit worldwide cuisine. All major high street and designer stores can be found within numerous shopping centres as well as boutique, independent and specialist shops around the cities neighbourhoods. Kelvingrove Park, the Botanic Gardens and Glasgow Green offer parkland spaces within the West End and East of the city centre.
Things to do outwith Glasgow city centre
During your stay in Glasgow there are many activities you could take part in, such as visiting Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, the water sports centre at Lochearnhead, taking a cruise down Loch Katrine on the steamship Sir Walter Scott, or you could take a tour around Glengoyne Distillery. The David Marshall Lodge is also situated nearby in the Stirlingshire area, where there are peaceful forest walks and picnic areas, and the Go Ape treetop adventure course.
The city of Stirling offers great train and bus links to Glasgow and is only a 30 minute drive away. Stirling offers many historic sites including the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle as well as some spectacular scenery.
