Inverness, Loch Ness and Moray Firth
This region offers a wealth of activities on its doorstep and in and around Inverness itself. It is an ideal destination whether seeking an adventure holiday, leisurely and relaxing trip or maybe even highland romance. Inverness is an ideal stop off point for touring further North and from Aberdeen, to the East, and the islands and West coast, in the other direction.
The City of Inverness, commonly referred to as the ‘Capital of the Highlands’, links the surrounding regions. A small city offering plenty to see and do, whether exploring, visiting, shopping or eating and drinking. The centre of Inverness has a pretty riverfront location, the mouth of the River Ness, and is easy to get around visiting many of the main attractions. Inverness is at the head of the Great Glen and Caledonian Canal, which offers miles of great walking and stunning scenery within the Great Glen Way. There is a great range of excellent attractions for visitors to enjoy within this highland region including Fort George, Culloden Battlefield and Urquhart Castle, on the banks of Loch Ness. However, the area is as popular for its Highland beauty and tranquillity. Enjoy dolphin spotting at the Moray Firth and a huge choice of golf and links courses nearby. During the summer months visitors to Inverness, Loch Ness and Moray Firth can enjoy the Highland Games and the unique and popular RockNess music festival which takes place on the banks of Loch Ness with a stunning highland backdrop.
