Granada is an area in Southern Spain, in the eastern part of the Andalusia. The capital city of the area is also Granada. In the northern part of the Province of Granada is a vast plateau of flatlands surrounded by the highest peaks of the Bética Mountain Range whereas a few kilometres east of the capital city, the terrain becomes increasingly dusty and verges on being a desert.
The Granada area is less popular than neighbouring Costa del Sol although Granada's coastline has a subtropical climate. Its beach resorts and towns still retain their Spanish character. The area boasts some spectacular cliffs with private coves and sandy beaches. The area is an ideal summer holiday destination for those wanting to get away from the crowds. Situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains National Park, there are many activities to take part in, alongside many fantastic walks and climbs through the mountains themselves.
