Isle of Islay

Islay is the southern most island in the Inner Hebrides and has a very pleasant climate owing to the Gulf Stream. It is 25 miles north of the Irish coast and this can be seen on a clear day. Islay is perhaps most famous for the malt whiskys that are distilled there. Islay and its neighbouring island Jura boast 9 in total - Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Coal Ila, Bunnahabhain, Bruichladdich, and Kilchoman (the most recent) and the Jura distillery.
