Auchtermuchty
Auchtermuchty is a small town in the heart of Fife, just 3 miles from Falkland, where you will find Falkland Palace, used by the Stuart Kings and Queens as a Hunting Lodge, and only 8 miles away from the modern town of Glenrothes. It is approximately 30 miles north of the Forth Road Bridge and close to Edinburgh and St Andrews. There are plenty of walks surrounding the village, offering views across the Howe of Fife to the Lomond Hills, also known as the Paps of Fife. It is a great place for exploring the East of Neuk and offers a whole range of amenities itself. It was also the childhood home of the legendary Sir Jimmy Shand.
Featured on our Scotland on Film page, the town was used as the location for Tannochbrae in the 1990s ITV series Dr Finlay.
