Hardgatehead sleeps up to 6 people in one double, one twin/double and a sleeping loft with limited headroom suitable for two children.  Master bedroom with en-suite shower, family bathroom and large living/kitchen/dining area in the modern extension.  Converted in 2010 from a small agricultural cottage it now makes the most of the stunning views to the South of the property.  Surrounded by hills and sheep there is plenty to explore or simply light the fire and relax.

Dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, gas cooker and hob, fridge freezer, TV's with dvd players, stereo with ipod docking and good mobile phone reception, underfloor heating. Well stocked kitchen and gas BBQ. Covered deck area with patio furniture.  Also plenty of hall space and cupboards to house all your muddy outdoor gear.  The shed to the rear of the property also houses the wood pellet boiler and is therefore lovely and warm and great for cleaning dogs/bikes/boots etc. A large sink and hose live out here.

Energy for the cottage is provided by an off grid system of a wind turbine/generator and battery rack.  If we have a power failure at the farm you should be well catered for.

The cottage is quite secluded and a short drive up a farm track which can be quite muddy at times, depending on the stocking arrangements at the time, there may be a couple of gates to open and close on the way. You will have no immediate neighbours other than the cattle and sheep and the odd passing walker.

Edinburgh city centre is approx 30 mins drive away, the village of West Linton offers basic daily supplies in a couple of shops, there is a good pub (The Gordon Arms Hotel) and an excellent restaurant (The Bakehouse).  West Linton is a 10 min. drive from the cottage or it can be walked or cycled via the Golf Course. 

There are a selection of basic bikes available in the heated shed suitable for exploring the many routes locally.  Well behaved dogs are most welcome and they can be walked to their hearts content from the doorstep. We can also accommodate your horse if required.

A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
