Bohemia is an historical region in the Czech Republic, occupying the western two-thirds of the traditional Czech Republic. Bohemia's borders are marked with mountain ranges which are ideal for summer and winter activities. This area offers diverse landscapes, a large number of historical cities, medieval castles and charming chateaux. The highest Czech mountain range, The Giant Mountains, is located in this region, as well as the origin of the largest Czech river, the Elbe.The large area which extends south of Prague in central Bohemia along the rivers Vltava and Sázava is popular with hikers and waters sports enthusiasts who can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing etc. The tradition of camps with wooden chalets has still been preserved here.
