An astoundingly beautiful castle with lovely gardens.
Known most famously as the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, Linlithgow palace has been brought back into the limelight recently by its inclusion in Outlander. When Jamie is arrested and imprisoned, the ruins of the Palace are what substitute for his jail. The long corridors and slit window are exactly as they would have been in 18th century Scotland, making it an excellent choice of location for the scene. Visitors to the Palace can enjoy beautiful walks around the lake and parklands, and tours of the Palace and its gardens run all year round.
